Thoughts on the Spider-Woman variant cover controversy?

They hired an acclaimed raunchy porn artist and he drew them a porn-y cover like yeah I know people are trying to say “Spider-Man just poses like that it’s not porny” but like, the first image result for Milo Manara is a girl in one of his porn comics striking basically the same pose.

Like, people can fight all they want about it, it’s a fact he drew one of his stock porn poses and coloured it red to say it was the costume fabric.

That aside, I think it’s generally a subpar Milo Manara drawing, the head is awkwardly placed on the neck with unappealing proportions to the features, the hair isn’t draping attractively, the colour seems rushed and almost scratchy compared to his other stuff and it’s just generally below the quality bar anyone who’s familiar with his work would probably expect to see. I almost feel like it looks like it was a rush job he did as a favour or because he had to replace a water heater ASAP or something. Although in his more recent stuff he seems to be really into giving his women almost… like… ape-ish faces with extremely small, flush noses and large mouths so maybe that’s just what he’s into these days

I mean I guess he’s always been all about those little stylized dot noses, but it feels like now he’s balancing his faces in a way that makes them appear disproportionate in a way that doesn’t seem flattering, the way they used to.

Granted I’ve only got the same passing familiarity with Manara that anyone who grew up reading heavy metal and the occasional volume of Sandman does, so maybe he’s always drawn weird chimp faces and I wasn’t paying enough attention before.

This is the rough animatic of Garnet and Pearl’s fusion dance from Coach Steven! It’s got the scratch music track that we animated to: “Freak” by Estelle.

This was a super fun collaboration. I animated Garnet’s dancing and Rebecca Sugar animated Amethyst dancing. We had to synchronize!

Pearl covering Steven’s eyes was done by Raven Molisee and Sugilite appearing was drawn by Paul Villeco.

Voices by Estelle and Nicki Minaj

Is it racist that a white, 20 year old unarmed kid was shot by a black cop on Monday, Aug 18, 3 days ago and its no where in the news? Oh wait, it happens all the time, its just not newsworthy. Sucks to be white.

Dear Racists: I know you’re going to to be trotting this out in the next few days claiming that this shows how white people are just as badly treated as black people in the US (though, of course, the idea that “it happens all the time” to white people is, of course, a ridiculous and disgusting lie).

But guess what, fuckheads, as usual, you’re wrong as fuck. The reason this tragedy isn’t national news is because, surprise surprise, a similar (ish) shooting of a white teenager by a black cop is being handled by the authorities completely differently! That’s right, you dumbfucks, this officer is being immediately and vigorously investigated, the officer’s name was released, the victim wasn’t denied medical care, nor was his body left on the street for hours. It’s almost like we treat black and white people differently in our justice system! And if you want to argue that the fucking Salt Lake City PD (oh shit, was I able to read about this case in the NATIONAL NEWS?!?!?! ) is racist against white people, you are fucking out of your mind.

So, nice try, you asshole, I know you were salivating over finding a case to compare this to Mike Brown, but, even with this timing, you’re not even fucking close to proving your racist “point.”

Holy shit, the finale of Book 3 of the Legend of Korra was so. fucking. good. Hot damn, season 3 has been amazing from start to finish! Like finally, this is how awesome Korra should have been from the beginning, this is the potential the show has had all the long. Just fuck man, I’ll be over here crying for a bit because of these feels. I am so interested to see what happens in season 4 because the finale made for a very interesting setup (cough **mild spoiler** I need to see what happens to Korra cough). Just, damn son, watta finale.

I’ve been thinking about a certain sayain prince a lot lately.

Chris Pratt worked with Marvel and Children’s Miracle Network Hospital to arrange a special screening of Guardians of the Galaxy for patients, families and staff at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Wednesday. While the movie played, Pratt snuck out and dressed up as his character, Star-Lord. He spent more than three hours in full costume and handed out movie-themed toys. Pratt also visited patients in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases, and the Pediatric ICU, as they were too sick to join the movie screening that afternoon.

Pratt spent extra time with one patient, Dylan Prunty, who is a longtime Lego fan and recognized the actor’s voice from The Lego Movie. They spent about 10 minutes reciting different scenes from the film.
